LUXURY PACIFIC CRUISE
Deaf, Dumb Stowaway From N.Z. (N.Z. Press Association —Copyripht) VANCOUVER, December 28. A young deaf and dumb Canadian who stowed away from New Zealand on the liner Arcadia walked ashore free earlier this week after a luxury trip across the Pacific. Canadian Press said Kenneth Hodson, aged 19, stowed away at Auckland by walking up the main gangplank and hiding on a mess deck. When he was discovered, he was given a cabin, three meals a day and other crew privileges. Shipping line officials declined to press charges. Hodson said in sign language that he had gone to New Zealand with his parents, but had wanted to return to Canada. He gave no other reason for his action, the news agency said.
