Changes In Import Licence Scheme (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 30. Linoleum and congoleum has been withdrawn from the replacement licence scheme during the 1961 import licensing period, the Comptroller of Customs (Mr J. F. Cummings) announced in Wellington today. Mr Cummings said that the 1961 import licensing schedule originally provided for the scheme to apply to linoleum and congoleum only, and it did not include other forms of floor coverings such as linoleum tiles and sheet vinyl flooring.

Since the release of the schedule a certain amount of inequity throughout toe floor covering trade had become apparent. Also, should toe present situation continue, toe department foresaw certain administrative problems, particularly related to toe present local production of vinyl tiles and toe proposed local manufacture of sheet vinyl flooring later in 1961. For these reasons, said Mr Cummings. it had been decided in the best interests of all concerned, to exclude linoleum and congoleum from the replacement licence scheme.

Alternative provision would be made for these goods during toe 1961 period to toe extent of 100 per cent, of toe value of such goods imported during the 1960 period. |
