Roller Skating SPEED EVENTS FOR JUNIORS
National Titles At Wellington (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 30. Shona Wright, a 14-year-old skater from Tokoroa, won the junior girls’ fiee skating championship at the New Zealand Roller Skating Association’s twenty-fourth championships at Kilbirnie tonight. Three members of the Manawatu Indoor Skating Club were among the six finalists in the championship. All had been coached by professionals with overseas experience. Cholmondeley Home As a result of a collection made at the screenings of children’s Christmas films in a city theatrette last week. the Cholomondeley Children's Home had benefited by £l2 4s 6d, said the secretary of the home (Mrs R. J. Blackburn) yesterday. The hour-long programmes, which were screened twice daily during the five days before Christmas, consisted of films illustrating children’s Christmas around the world, familiar Christmas carols, a Christmas parade of famous Hollywood film stars and a special children's Christmas playette.
