Maori Students’ Success
Since the two-year training of students in modern agricultural methods began at the Hodderville farm students’ centre, a Salvation Army project in Auckland Province, one-third of the young men receiving passing out certificates have been Maoris. These boys have distinguished themse)ves by their intelligence and industry. A considerable number of the special prizes awarded at the graduation a few days, ago were won by Maori students. All the 1960 graduates were offered positions in the Auckland province and many others could have been similarly placed.
“All who have the interests of New Zealand farming at heart are immensely impressed with the progress that is being made here at Hodderville,” said Dr. C. P. McMeekan, superintendent of the Ruakura Animal Research Station. who was the guest speaker at the graduation ceremony.
