HIGH-SPEED CHASE IN WELLINGTON
Converted Car Reaches Over 100 M.P.11. (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 27. Two police patrol cars had no chance of catching a converted car when it reached more than 100 miles an hour on the Wellington motorway early this morning. The car was found abandoned at Paraparaumu Beach about 6 a.m. today. The car, converted from Strathmore after 2 a.m., was not reported stolen till late in the chase. It first drew attention as it was driven at high speeds through the city. The car. carrying a man and a woman, was driven round back streets to avoid a road block at Johnsonville.
