LABOUR PARTY AND F.O.L.
Stormy Meeting Expected
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 15.
A “full and frank” exchange of views is promised at the joint council meeting of the Federation of Labour and the Labour Party on Monday afternoon. It is expected the meeting will be long, and perhaps stormy. An "inquest” into the Labour Party's defeat will be one of the main topics. On the one hand, the F.O.L. will be critical of Labour Party policies. On the other, the Labour Party’s leaders may have some strong words about the lukewarm attitude of some union leaders. The discussion may clear the air for new policies of co-opera-tion between the two wings of the Labour movement. But equally the clash of personalities could be so strong that the cleavage could widen. Some trade union leaders have been known to be very dissatisfied with Labour policies. Mr F. P. Walsh, president of the F.0.L., has several times been forceful in his criticism of various economic measures of the last Government.
