Children Go Shopping
An unusually earnest Christmas shopping expedition took place in Christchurch yesterday morning when 35 children from the Methodist Children’s Home in Harewood road, accompanied by 14 wives of Christchurch Junior Chamber members, visited a crowded city shop to make their Christmas purchases. Although the recent “parking meter” campaign organised by members of the Junior Chamber to raise funds for this year’s annual children's shopping tour had not been as successful as expected, sufficient was given by offending motorists to give each of the children 15s for the morning’s shopping, said the campaign organiser (Mr J. C. Drummond).
