ATHLETIC PARK AMENITIES
Linwood High School Representations
The Linwood High School Board of Governors will continue pressure on the Education Department throughout the school holidays to get approval for a new pavilion in place of the old grandstand at Athletic Park.
The headmaster (Mr P. A. Hickling) said that nothing seemed to have come of theh board’s representations; but a new health hazard had given the school’s claim fresh urgency. Now that cricket had started, there were now often more than 100 boys on the park (now used as the school’s sports ground), yet there were no toilet facilities. Mr Hiekling said he thought the school would find support for the installation of these amenities in regulations governing health and assembly. It would be a simple matter to include toilets and showers in a new pavilion. The secretary (Mr P. J. Halligan) said the pavilion proposal was on the “urgent list” recently considered during an inspection by Education Department officials. On the suggestion of the chair* man (Mr K. A. Gough) it was agreed that the headmaster and secretary should continue representations to the Christchurch office of the Education Depart, ment during the holidays.
