CORRUPTION CHARGES
Accused Sent For Trial (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 13. Frederick Ernest Bognuda, aged 58, a contractor, was 1 today committed to the Supreme Court for trial on charges of five breaches of the Secret Commissions Act. On four of the charges he was jointly charged with Bognuda, Adams, and Blyth Sand and Gravel Supplies, Ltd. Mr W. R. Birks appeared for the Crown, and Mr R. G. Collins for both accused. Mr J, B. Thomson, S.M., was on the Bench. It was alleged that Bognuda corruptly gave £5BO to Hector John Langdon Wotten, an agent of the Ministry of Works, as an inducement or reward to show favour to the firms of F. and JBognuda, Ltd., Bognuda, Adams, and Blyth Sand and Gravel Supplies, Ltd., and the Dry Creek Quarrying Company, Ltd., in region to the affairs of business o-i the Ministry of Works. Bognuda, together with Bognuda, Adams, and Blyth Sand and Gravel Supplies, Ltd., was also charged with corruptly giving Wotten building materials valued at £5O 18s.
