Selwyn Huts

Sir,— Wishing to secure a fishing hut at the Upper Selwyn huts, I was disappointed to discover such a lack of amenities. Though not lacking in the pioneer spirit it puzzles me as to how hut owners and the many campers manage, particularly in the crowded holiday season. If the bodies concerned wish to shelve responsibility, could not the Springs County Council immediately make temporary arrangements for the provision of hot water and toilet facilities? It may be in the catchment board’s interest to put in trees and it would indeed be a place where every prospect pleases.—Yours, etc., JOY. December 2, 1960. [The Springs County Clerk (Mr S. L. Boon) said: “The Selwyn huts are administered by the Springston South Domain Board, not the Springs County Council.

There is a committee of residents who take a very active interest in affairs at the huts and the general opinion is that they are doing an excellent job.’ J
