COMMUNICATIONS CENTRE
Installation At Police Station
Part of the reading room at the Central Police Station is at present being converted to a communications room and information centre. The police two-way radio, teleprinter and switchboard are being installed in this section. The station is linked to the teleprinter network with Dunedin, Wellington, Auckland, and Hamilton.
The work is being done by the Ministry of Works and the Post Office.
Because of the restricted space the billiards table has had to be removed from the reading room.
