Traffic Control
Sir, —Professor Danks calls us tmall-town drivers. How true! And this goes for the whole traffic set-up. But when is action going to be taken to improve matters? I would suggest that (1) the department at once 0y one or two officers to London to drive and observe driving and traffic control; (2) when licences are renewed a small levy be made to cover the cost of a “Better Driving” campaign; (3) the A-A.C. consider ways and means to make its members a “corps elite” to set an example of road courtesy and strict observance of the Road Code, which is rapidly becoming a dead letter in Christchurch. After driving in London, where driving standards are nearly 100 per cent., I am convinced that one learns more from the example of others than in any other way.—Yours, etc., XGF 987.
