PACKAGE TOURS OF N.Z.
Australian Airline’s Plan (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 11. Ten Australian tourists a day will be coming to New Zealand in the near future under package tours planned by Ansett Transport Industries. Ltd., of Melbourne. The tourists will cross the Tasman by Tasman Empire Airways aircraft and join an Airlines of New Zealand. Ltd. aircraft for their holiday in New Zealand. T.E.A.L. alone should benefit by an extra £400.000 a year. Ansett’s plans were outlined in Auckland by Mr R. R. Walker, the company’s chief executive. Ansett Transport has 49 per cent, share interest in Airlines of New Zealand, Ltd., which starts regular services on December 14. “Our plans for 10 tourists a dav initially are rather modest." said Mr Walker He said many Australians did not realise it was not as far to Auckland from Svdney as to Perth and Western Australia and Northern Queensland. He was positive an attractive tourist nroposition "ould be put up and sold to Australians to visit New Zealand.
