BUILDING FOR PARKING
Site Suggested By Councillor Land owned by the City Council on the north-east corner of Manchester street and Gloucester street would be a good site for a parking building, Cr. H. P. Smith, chairman of the council’s finance committee, said yesterday, when commenting on the Wellington City Council’s proposal to buy land for a parking building. The council had established a parking lot in the south of the city, and he felt it should provide off-street parking on a substantial scale in the north end, Cr. Smith said. He hoped that at the end of the financial year the council could review the parking meter account and give some thought to a multistoreyed parking building on the site.
