FAWN DELIVERED BY YOUTH
Prompt Action After Hind Was Shot (New Zealand Press Association) ROTORUA, December 9 A keen biology student. Grenville Ham. head prefect and dux of Reporoa High School, saved a baby fawn with prompt and practical application of a classroom theory when he was out hunting in the Reporoa district. Grenville, who is 17. recently took biology as a School Certificate subject. When he discovered a hind he had shot in the bush was ready to calve, he delivered the fawn with a Caesarean operation, and then applied mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. When the fawn was breathing, he obtained milk from the dead hind, and gave the infant its first meal.
He took the fawn home to h: uncle’s farm at River road. Mih where it is now doing well.
