Two Hercules And Skymaster
Tire fourth ski-equipped Hercules which will make its test flights in Antarctica left the American Antarctic advance headquarters at Harewood at 1 p.m. yesterday. At 8.57 p m. it was followed by another Hercules which had been at Harewood for routine maintenance. This aircraft has been operating in Antarctica during the current season.
A United States Navy Skymaster carrying the last of the summer passengers south also left the airport. On its return to New Zealand the aircraft will carry the last of the members of the wintering-over group. At Hut Point, 12 miles and a half from McMurdo Sound, the icebreaker Glacier is at present unloading.
