“CLEAN-UP WEEK” IN PAPARUA
Plenty Of Old Iron Gathered
The Paparua County Council’s “clean-up week,” which ended yesterday, was most successful. It took two extra trucks to cart away all the rubbish offering. “We’ve gathered plenty of special rubbish—mostly old iron, in the form of bicycle frames, old tanks, and suchlike, old mattresses, and other stuff .that people can’t get rid of in the ordinary way without making a special trip to a dump,” said the county engineer (Mr A. Dyhrberg) yesterday. “This is the sort of rubbish that is often gently deposited on some quiet county roadside,” Mr Dyhrberg said. “We are very pleased to have all this rubbish safely in our dump,” he said. “We are only hoping that no invaders from outside the county will dump future rubbish on our roads to spoil the good work.”
