BUILDING AT RANGI-RURU
Board’s Plans For Extensions
Building plans for extending Rangi-ruru School were outlined by the chairman of the board of governors (the Rev. M. W. Wilson) at the school prize-giving yesterday. A two-storey block including eight classrooms, a staffroom and offices would be the next building to go up, he said. An assemblyhall would then be built and the third stage of the programme would include a library. The board’s aim was to avoid extravagance but to provide buildings with dignity to serve subsequent generations. For the first time since the board took over the school in 1946, an appeal would be made to parents and friends to contribute to the building fund. The new buildings were necessary to meet the demands of a growing school—a school with the primary reason for existence of trying to give girls a sound Christian education, Mr Wilson said.
