STUD SHEEP SHIPMENT

22 To Leave For Argentina

A shipment of 22 stud sheep from North and South Island breeders will leave Lyttelton today for Argentina on the Port Dunedin. They will be taken to Durban and transhipped to Buenos Aires and Puntas Arenas.

The shipment includes Corriedale rams and ewes and Lincoln and Romney Marsh rams. Among the Corriedale rams is the Killik Aike trophy winner at the 1960 Christchurch Royal Show, a four-tooth ram bred by the Bushey Park estate. Palmerston, which has been sold at 1000 gns. to Condor and Company, Argentina. The Killik Aike award is for the ram wi.h the best sire’s fleece in the show. Other South Island vendors of Corriedales include Messrs J. H Grigg (Longbeach) with one ram, B. S. Trolove and Sons (Kekerengu) with a ram and four ewes, R. M. Thomson (Culverden) with four rams, and D. S. Johns (Culverden) with two rams.

The shipment was arranged by Wright Stephenson and Company and the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company.
