40th ANNIVERSARY OF CONSECRATION
Archbishop Liston, Of Auckland
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 9 The Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland (the Most Rev. J. M. Liston) this week-end celebrates the fortieth anniversary of his consecration. *
Archbishop Liston has been Bishop of Auckland since November, 1929, when, as Coadjutor Bishop, he succeeded the late Bishop Cleary.
Archbishop Liston will be 80 next year.
With the largest diocese in New Zealand—from Taumarunui to North Cape—he is still fully active, uses air transport every month of the year, -and copes with a heavy burden of work with the assistance of an auxiliary bishop (Bishop J. R. Delargey) and a secretary.
