FLOODING IN GISBORNE
3000 Sheep, 600 Cattle Lost (New Zealand Press Association) GISBORNE, December 9. Sheep losses caused by floods in the Gisborne area in November amounted to 3000 head, the chairman of the emergency flood relief committee (Mr H. D . Chamberlain) said today. The committee met in Gisborne to deal with applications from 33 farmers for various forms -of assistance. Mr Chamberlain said surveys indicated that damage to maize crops was spread over 1000 acres and about 350 acres were damaged beyond hope of resowing. Other crops lost totalling 300 acres and 500 acres of pastures were damaged by heavy siltLig. Cattle losses amounted to 600.
