HYDRO EMPLOYEE BADLY BURNED
Touched Transformer At Waitaki
A man was badly burned when he touched a transformer at the Waitaki hydro-electric station on Wednesday. He is Francis Lawrence Fuller, aged 32, married, employed by the Electricity Department at Waitaki. He was taken by ambulance from Oamaru to Burwood Hospital yesterday morning. His condition yesterday was reported as fair. Mr Fuller received burns on hie head, on his right arm and on his chest. He was resuscitated and then taken to Waitaki Hospital. The ambulance which brought Mr Fuller to Christchurch left Oamaru at 8.30 a.m, yesterday. When the ambulance reached Christchurch the City Council traffic department was telephoned and asked to provide an escort to Burwood. The message did not gve the exact route the ambunce was -taking, so three traffic officers were sent out. Uie ambulance was met near Christchurch Hospital and a traffic officer, with his siren going, escorted the vehicle to Burwood.
