TV AND CURRENT AFFAIRS
Federation Plans Programmes (N.Z. Pres* Association—Copyright) LONDON. Dec. 7. The Australian Broadcasting Commission has joined British. American, and Canadian television companies to produce international current affairs programmes. The formation of a four-mem-ber International Television Federation —to be known as Interte! —was announced at a London press conference last night. Tlie chairman of London's As-sociated-Rediffusion, Ltd. (Captain T. M. Brownrigg) said the object of Intertel was to “promote, through television. a wider knowledge of contemporary world affairs and a better mutual understanding of world problems.” In the first phase of the project, -over about 18 months, 12 hour-long programmes would be produced, he said. Their subjects would include features on France. South Vietnam, “the Two Faces of Japan.” “The Chinese Overseas.” Central Africa, Cuba, and an investigation of segregation and intergration in America.
