KAYAKS BUILT BY SEA SCOUTS
Launching At South Brighton Tomorrow
Six kayaks, one-man canoes, built by members of the South Brighton Pegasus sea scout troop will be launched on Saturday morning on the Avon from the Pleasant Point Club's boathouse at South Brighton. The boatbuilders, aged from 12 to 14, are Stephen McGregor, Todd Haller, Ross Brewer. Ken Ewings, Paul Myer and Johp Robinson, who have worked on the boats every Friday evening for the last four months.
The boats, 13ft long, are canvascovered and carry a safe weight of 3501 b.
The man behind the project is Mr S. Teague. . a former district scoutmaster of Raupo district, and an experienced canoeist who has supervised the building of the boats. Earlier this year Mr Teague was associated with a similar project by Lyttelton sea scouts and he accompanied them oh a 50-mile trip around Stewart Island.
