Informal Votes In Gisborne

y A big increase in informal votes, tom 65 in 1957 to 186. marks the 1960 Gisborne election. Many were Sft blank.
The Registrar of Electors (Mr 4- F. O. Clarke) said he was quite unable to account for the increase, from the many paoers left blank, there was no predominant reason for rejecting papers as in»rmaL
Many papers were incorrectly marked, but the intention of the voter was quite clear in most cases. In 186 cases, however, the peper was either blank or so marked that the voter’s intention was uncertain.
