MAURICE TILL

Recital At Linwood High School Maurice Till, whose playing is well known to listeners in New Zealand, gave a recital of piano music in the hall at the Linwood High School last week. He played two groups of piano works by various composers and also accompanied David Stone in a group of three works for violin. The occasion marked the acquisition by the school of a Danneman semi-grand piano, which was made possible by the work of the Parent-teacher Association. Speaking to an audience of parents and pupils near the end of the programme, Mr Till said it was a pleasure to find good pianos now appearing more frequently in public halls in Canterbury. He congratulated the school on obtaining such a fine instrument* v. St. Martins.—Petre 24, Dangerfield 21; Dunn 17, Reid 21. Totals: Canterbury 41, St. Martins 42. v.
