BOWLS Manning Cup, Three Fours Competitions
Play in the Christchurch Bowling Centre inter-club tournament for the Manning Cup, .Three-fours and Robinson Shield j were taken a stage further when another round in each fixture was decided on Saturday. The greens were running quite j fast and true. Some of them, which had been cut very low, ; were lightning fast, rather exceptional for this time of the year. The fairly strong north- t easterly had a bad effect upon e the run of the bowls, more espec- ‘ ially on the exposed greens. j There were many players who r were trying to fight the wind - with disastrous results. Experienced players delivered their < bowls with the correct amount of green and hoped that there 4 would be sufficient lull to allow 2 the bowl to take its true course. In the last two weeks there 4 have been some major upsets. Some teams which had good ( wins on the first day fell heavily in the second and third rounds. ( Results were:— MANNING CUP 2 Rangiora Green v. Dallington.—Jeavons 11, Kirk 22; Emmett 16, Roberts 18. Total: Rangiora 27, Dallington 40. 1 v. Dallington.—Walker 17. Wright 18; Jones 22, Colgan 20.
