Rifle Shooting TEAM FROM AUSTRALIA
Visit To N.Z. In February (ALZ. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, November 20. The Australian National Rifle Association has accepted an invitation to send an official team to New Zealand in February. The cost of sending the team will amount to about £AISOO. The Australian council will give £ASO towards the cost of each member. The acceptance of the invitation comes after a visit from New Zealand of a 16-man team for last month’s Centenary Queen’s Shoot on the Liverpool, Sydney, range. The Australians’ main shoot will be at the New Zealand centenary Queen’s meet from February 21-25. Other shoots arranged are the Wairarapa championship on February 18, the Wellington association championship on February 20, and a Commonwealth teams’ match on February 26 and 27. The team will be selected on a State quota basis. New South Wales and Victoria will each have three representatives. South Australia and Western Australia two each, and North Queensland. South Queensland and Tasmania one each. MODEL YACHTING The first and second heats of the Christchurch Model Yacht Club’s championships, held in a brisk north north-easterly wind on Victoria Lake during the week-end resulted as follows: First Heat.—Doris (B. George) 1, Westwind (N. Praed) 2, Cara (V. Guy) 3. Empire (D. J. Spencer) 4, Lark (P. Caldwell) 5. Time, 27min 29 sec. Second Heat.—Doris 1, Lark 2. Empire 3, Cara 4, Contact 5. Time, 28min 7sec. Points gained were: Doris 16. Lark 6, Westwind 5. Empire 5, Cara 5, Contact 1. The ninth heat of the points trophy race resulted: — Rusty (W. F. Guy), 9min 30sec, 1: Doris (B. George), 2min 50sec, 2: Lark (P. Caldwell), 6min lOsec. 3; Cara (V. Guy). 7min, 4; Westwind (N. Praed), 7min ssec, 5. Time, 43min 34sec. Pillion Riders Injured.— Two pillion passengers were injured when two motor-cycles skidded on the Summit road yesterday afternoon. They are Janice Patricia Rooney, of 8 Solent place, Wainoni, who suffered arm injuries. and Patricia Mitten, of 57 Basingstoke street, who suffered leg injuries. They were treated at the casualty department of the Christchurch Hospital and sent home.
