SCRAMBLE FOR "BANKNOTES"
Counterfeit Cash On Broadway
NEW YORK. Nov. 19. New Yorkers scrambled for ”20dollar banknotes” fluttering down on Broadway early today. , Fights broke out as passers-by sought to gather as many as possible of "3700 dollars” in notes which were tossed from ■ twentieth-storey hotel window. No-one heard three detectives who were shouting from the window "Stop, you're stealing our evidence.” The money was all counterfeit. It was tossed out the window by two suspected forgers the detectives were arresting. Police recovered 86 of the 185 notes.
