ATTACK ON OLD SHOPKEEPER
Girl Admits Attempt At Robbery
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 16. A plea of guilty to attempted robbery of a man aged 84, in the storeroom of his Auckland shop on July 12 was entered by Mary Tatana, aged 16, at present an inmate ■of Arohata Borstal when she appeared today before Mr W. H. Carson, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Wellington The prosecutor (Mr P. W. Matheson) said four girls were involved. For about an hour before the attack on the old man they entered the shop singly or in pairs, made small purchases or looked at goods. The complainant was eventually lured into the storeroom at the back of the shop where he was struck over the head with a bottle by one of the girls, said Mr Matheson. The wound inflicted required four stitches. The girls aU aw> y without stealing anything. Tatana did not take any pert In attacking the shopkeeper but had helped to lure him into the trap and was prepared to share in the proceeds from any goods or money stolen. The Magistrate remanded Tatana for sentence.
Tatana for sentence. Fall From Bo*—When she fell from a bus while alifhtinj in Victoria square about 12 p.m. yesterday, a woman suffered back injuries. She is Mrs Clementia Horton Adie, of 32 Peacock street She was sent home after treatment at the Christchurch Hospital.
