TROTTING Blue Emperor’s Chance In Sprint At Forbury

Blue Emperor, a solid finisher for third to Responsive and Vanity Scott, in .the Metropolitan Handicap last week, should inake a first winning bid for Mr J. Brown, who bought him last month, in the Recovery Handicap, a sprint race on the final day of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s. spring meeting today.

Blue Emperor started from 24 yards last week, but today he looks favourably placed on the irimt. He has shown sound sprintihg form4n strong fields in the past and he should be too good for most of his rivals in this race.

Spaxton was.a good fifth over 12 furlongs test Saturday, after showing winnning form as a sprinter at New Brighton last, month. His effort of last week entitles him to respect. Finestra had no luck in the running in his race last week and if started here in addition to the Presidents Handicap, he will be solidly supported. He, too, is a smart sprinter. Highland Heath looks better placed in this race than he was last week and from the front, he should give a good account of himself. However, he will be hard pressed to hold Smokeaway and Queen Ngaio, both of which are in fine form at present. Pagliactri, Pretoria Bob, Takitimu and Waitaki Child are others expected to add interest to the finish, but if Blue Emperor receives a favourable run, he should win. The double will be run on the President’s Handicap and the City Handicap. Vanity Scott, Queen Ngaio and Arania appeal most in the first leg, with Schnapps, Gentles and Gatley foiming a likely trio in the second. Fine weather is forecast for today, but the track may be easy after rain earlier in the week.
