MAGISTRATE’S COURT

FRIDAY (Before Mr A. P. Blair, S.M.) FINED £l4 While talking to friends in Lichfield street on July 27, a man heard the sound of crushing metal, looked behind, and saw a car reversing into his bicycle in a nearby stand, according to evidence. Before the Court was Duncan Campbell MacDonald (Mr B. S. McLaughlin), who pleaded guilty to charges of driving without due care and attention, and supplying false information. He was fined £lO on the second charge, and £4 on the first. Sergeant T. A. A. Marson said that after MacDonald had written a najpe and address on a piece of paper the complainant was suspicious, and took the car’s registration numbar. Mr McLaughlin said panic was one of the reasons MacDonald gave for supplying the false information. OTHER TRAFFIC CHARGES On other traffic charges brought by the police, the following persons were fined:— Drove without due care and attention: lan Percival Rapley, £5; John Arthur Mathews, costs only; Lyall Edward Higgs, £5. Failed to give way: Conrad George Owens, £5; Colin Aubrey Priest, £4; Lorna Muriel Rowse, £4; Robin William Webb. £4 (no warrant of fitness. 10s); John Nuttall, £4; John Maurice Ross, £4. No warrant of fitness: Mary Josephine Forrester, £1; Graham Desmond Pizzey, £1 10s. REMANDED Charged with driving while under the Influence of drink or drugs on October 14, Allan Stewart McDonald was remanded to October 31. He was allowed bail of £lOO in his own recognisance.
