SITING OF STOP SIGN
Heathcote County Alteration
Alterations to the siting of the stop sign and readway lines at the Cashmere road-Colombo street-Dyers Pass road intersection were approved by the Heathcote County Council on the suggestion of the Transport Department.
When cars stopped at the line it was impossible for drivers to see traffic in Dyers Pass road or Colombo street, the department said. There had been “quite a number of near-accidents.”
The stop line in Centaurus road extended too far across the road, the department said! Hydatids Dosing.—The hydatids control officer would begin dog dosing in the county the week after next, the County Clerk (Mr R. W. Morris) reported. Elderly Drivers.—The Transport Department agreed that drivers over the age. of 70 should have 'their tests at Cashmere instead of from the council’s office, provided suitable arrangements could be made for eye-testing. The council asked for the change because of parking difficulties in the city. < New Offices.—The council would move to new premises at 170 Manchester street about the middle of next month, Mr Morris reported.
