New Bowls President
The recently-elected president of the Christchurch Bowling Centre, Mr M. A. Le Cren, began his bowling career with the Christchurch club 14 years ago; he is still a member and pastpresident <'
His administrative ability was soon recognised, and six years after his introduction to the game he became his club’s delegate on the centre. After three years as an ordinary delegate he was appointed to the match committee and during the absence of its chairman (Mr J. T. Bisman) overseas he acted as chairman. He has now served five years on the committee. .
A year after his appointment to this committee, Mr Le Cren was elected to the executive. Last year he was elected to the New Zealand Bowling Association Council and, with the other two members, was again elected this year unopposed. Mr Le Cren will have a big task in front of him this season when the Christ-
church Centre will be host to the British Isles team that will be touring the Dominion. Apart from his administrative ability, he has also had' some success on the green. In his first year he won his club’s colts championship, which he successfully defended the next year. Leaving the colts clasd, he was still to the fore the next season when he won the junior cup. In open company he has been successful in both champion and handicap pairs. «
