PEDESTRIAN KILLED
Struck By Car In Moorhouse Ave
A pedestrian was killed almost instantly when he was struck by a car outside the Christchurch railway station about 6.25 p.m. yesterday. His name is believed to be Norman Thomas Beard, aged 39, also known as Norman Collins. His address is unknown and it is thought that his relatives live in England. Suffering from serious head injuries he was rushed to the Christchurch Hospital by St. John ambulance, but was found to be dead on arrival. The accident occurred on the south side of Moorhouse avenue a few yards west of the Manchester street intersection. The car, driven by Margaret Eva Neale, of 28 Percy street, Linwood, was travelling west along Moorhouse avenue. Witnesses of the accident, and any known relatives or close friends of the dead man who ate living in New Zealand, are sought by the Christchurch Central Police.
An inquest will be held at 9 a.m. today.
