Motor-Cycling N.Z. Rider Second In Two Races
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, August 1. A New Zealander, H. Anderson, riding a Norton, was second in the 22-mile senior event at the Commonwealth motor-cycle championship meeting at Andover. Northamptonshire. today. Third was an Australia. T. Phillis, also on a Norton. Though Anderson recorded the fastest lap he was unable to catch the winner, T. Godfrey (Norton), of Britain, who finished in 17min Bsec at an average speed of 79.90 miles an hour. Anderson’s time was 17min 19.6 sec. Another New Zealand rider, P. Pawson (AJ3.), was fifth in 17min 28.2 sec. Phillis won the junior race, over the same distance, by 9.Bsec from Anderson. His time was 17min 27Jsec. Pawson was fifth in the race in 17min 46.25ec.
