HAY’S, LTD., ART COMPETITION
About 400 Entries Received About 400 paintings have been entered in the Hay’s, Ltd., art competition by more than 250 artists from all parts of New Zealand. The paintings have to be submitted to the. Canterbury Society of Arts by August 19. Judges will be Mr P. A. Tomory, the director of the Auckland Art Gallery, Mr Russell Clark, a lecturer in painting, and Mr J. Simpson, a lecturer in design, both of the Canterbury University School of Art The Mayor (Mr G. Manning) will open the exhibition at" a private viewing on August 30 at the Durham street Art Gallery, when the winners of the prizes of £3OO, £l5O, and £5O will be announced. The exhibition will be open to the public until September 17.
