CALCIUM CARBIDE INDUSTRY
Power Concessions Proposed (New Zealand'Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 2. The Government would consider giving power concessions to any company prepared to develop South Island lime deposits for a calcium carbide industry, the Minister of Industries and Commerce <Mr Holloway) said during the Budget debate in the House of Renresentatives tonight. He said the Government had been investigating lime deposits with a view to establishing this industry, which could be a major one for the South Island.
