Search For Kakapo
A party from the Wild Life Branch of the Internal Affairs Department is now in Sinbad Gully, Milford Sound, searching for the rare parrot, the kakapo. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Anderton) said the threeman party was led by Mr M. M. Small, senior field officer for the Southern Lakes district. Though fresh traces of the birds were found, the kakapo eluded four expeditions to Fiordland earlier this year.
