NEW PLOUGHING OFFICERS
(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, July 31. Mr M. J. Campbell, of Ruakura, was elected president of the New Zealand Ploughing Association at the annual meeting of the association on Friday evening. He will take office at the beginning of September. Mr G. C. Hurst (Papakaio) was elected senior vice-president, Mr S. J. Tiffen (Havelock North) junior vice-president and Messrs N. H. Kittow (Waipawa), G- L. A. Donald (Takapau), T. F. Carter (Greenpark) and J. D. Henderson (Halkett) were elected to fill vacancies on the committee. In his annual report the retiring president (Mr J. S. Marshall, of Waianiwa, Southland) said that he was sure that the New Zealand championships and the New Zealand ploughing organisation were now permanently established. Ploughing match associations affiliated with the New Zealand association had increased by one during the year, and with strong young associations coming into being in the North Island it was possible that further associations could be affiliated in the new year. Mr K. Boyle suggested that the new committee should examine the scale of points for the New Zealand championship. He said he thought that too many points were given for ploughing and not enough for ploughmgnship.
