Beckenham I In Lead When Avonside I, second in the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association’s winter inter-club competition, had a bye on Saturday, the leading team, Beckenham I, went even further into the lead. Beckenham I beat South Christchurch by 5 matches to 1. In the other matches University II beat Beckenham II by 4 matches to 2; Avonside II beat Barrington by 6 matches to 0; and North Lihwood beat University I by 6 matches to 0. Results:— Beckenham II v. University II Men’s Singles.—B. G. Hosking lost to B. Dunstan, 3-6, 2-6; B. Miles lost to D. Fletcher, 1-6, 4-6. Women’s Singles.—Miss R. Spooner won by default,; J. Tildersley lost to Miss I. Richards, 5-7, 1-6. Mixed Doubles.—Hosking and Miss Spooner beat Dunstan and Miss. Freeman, 6-8, 6-3, 6-4; Mills and Miss Tildersley lost to . Fletcher and Miss Richards, 2-6, 4-6.
