Record Year For Business A record amount of business was handled by the Public Trust Office in the year ended March 31, 1960. according to the trust’s annual report. The number of people who appointed the Public Trust as their executor in making their wills rose by 1412 to 11,794. The previous highest total of 11,059 new wills was established in 1943, says the report. “During the year,' 7177 wills were revised to meet the changed circumstances of testators and at. March 31, the office held the wills of 190,258 living persons—the highest total recorded since the inception of the office 88 years ago,” the report says. Estates valued at more than £l6m were accepted for administration during the year, compared with £lsm worth last year. More than £llm worth of estates and funds were under administration of the office in the year—exceeding all previous figures. "Office revenue has shown an increase of £49,599 on the previous year to a record figure of £935,836, and in spite of further rises in operating costs and a reduced number of staff to handle the business, a net profit of £28,591 was made,” says the report.
