CITY CURFEW IN U.S.
Wave Of Racial Incidents (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) GREENVILLE (South Carolina), July 26. Officials of this city of 65,000 today clamped a curfew on all persons 20 years of age and under in an effort to halt a wave of racial incidents. . The action was taken by the. City Council at an emergency session in the wake of two successive nights of clashes between gangs of whites and negroes, most of them teen-agers or young men. Incidents of rock throwing and the shooting up of cars were reported. No serious injuries resulted from the battles. The curfew hours are from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
