NEW BRITISH CRUISER COMMISSIONED.—The Royal Navy’s eleventh ship to be named Lion. She was commissioned at Jarrow on July 20. Built for £12,500,000, the ship is the Navy’s second Tiger-class cruiser. She is designed to provide close cover and anti-aircraft support for convoys and aircraft-carrier groups, and to support assault landings.
