GENERAL WEIR TO VISIT MALAYA
End Of Emergency Functions (W.Z Press Association— Copyrlonil KUALA LUMPUR, July 27. The Chief of the General Staff, New Zealand Army (MajorGeneral Sir Stephen Weir), will represent the New Zealand Chiefs of Staff at functions in Malaya marking the end of the antiCommunist emergency on July 31, it was officially announced today. General Weir is expected to arrive at Singapore tomorrow, and then fly to the Malayan capital in a special aircraft with Vice-Admiral Sir Roy Dowling, chairman of the Australian Chiefs of Staff committee, on July 31. On August 3, General Weir will go to Taiping, North Malaya, to inspect the 2nd Battalion, New Zealaand Regiment He is scheduled to leave for New Zealand on August 7.
