STREET APPEAL £425 Collected Yesterday
The sum of £425 was collected yesterday in the first combined street appeal for the Adult Cere* bral Palsy Association and the New Zealand Society for the Protection of Home and Family. With returns still to come in from Beckenham and Sydenham, and promised donations, the final amount is expected to be more than £450. More than 150 collectors were on city and suburban streets until 5 p.m. A produce stall in Cathedral square, run by the Adult Cerebral Palsy Association, raised £7O. This money Will not go towards the Collection. The Society for the Protection of Home and Family intends to run a similar stall later in the year. The society’s secretary (Mrs C. L Cattell), on behalf of both groups, said the response to the appeal had been good. “We would like to thank all those collectors who made the appeal a success. L think that with more collectors the result would have been even better,” said Mrs Cattell. With its half share of the collection, the Adult Cerebral Palsy Association intends to start a fund for the construction of a home for adult cerebral palsy sufferers.
