TOURIST HOTEL REPLACEMENT
Deputation To Meet
Minister
A deputation of members of South Island Chambers of Commerce will meet the Minister in charge of Tourist and Health Resorts (Mr Mathison) in Christchurch today to request the Government to take immediate steps to replace the main tourist hotels in the South Island destroyed by fire.
The deputation will be acting on a remit passed at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Associated Chambers of Commerce at Napier in May. Mr J. Roy Smith (national president) will lead the deputation. Other members will be Mr R. C. Neville (Christchurch), Mr R. H. Clark (Christchurch), Mr J. w. Holley (Dunedin), Mr J. Truman (Greymouth), Mr I. McAllum (Dunedin), Mr N. Adams (Invercargill) and three other members.
The deputation will make general submissions on the need to rebuild the tourist hotels in the South Island, and the promotion of tourism.
