Geraldine Club At Orari
The Geraldine Trotting Club, for the time being at least, will continue to race at Orari. This was decided at the annual meeting on Wednesday evening after a discussion of a proposal to move to Washdyke. The president (Mr M. W. Newbegin) said the trustees of the Orari racecourse were faced with a large expenditure on the course in the near future and the chib had been asked for £lOOO as its share. There would be further requests as the building programme was expanded over a period of years. The question was whether to expend capital on the Orari course in the face of the high rent paid to race there, Mr Newbegin said. "As a club can we continue to pay what would be necessary for a proper standard on the Orari racecourse?” he asked.
