Martial Beaten By French Colt (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON. July 27 The Australian jockey. George Moore, today rode the Aga Khan’s French-trained Venture VII to victory in the £3255 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood. Sussex. Venture VII, which started the 13 to 8 favourite, won by half a length from Martial, trained in Ireland by Paddy Pendergast. Martial, ridden by Moore’s fellow countryman, Ron Hutchinson, started at 7 to 2. Moore took Venture VII to the front approaching the last furlong of the mile race, and the French colt successfully held off a spirited challenge by Martial. Mr H. Joel’-s Predominate won the Goodwood Stakes, run over two miles and three furlongs. It was his third successive win in this event. Mr W. Stirling’s Freelight was second, and Mr C.
