JAPANESE DIESEL VEHICLES
Exporter Looking At N.Z. Market
A belief that “dieselisation”, one of the trends in world transport, would prove very important to New Zealand if adopted here, was expressed by a Japanese businessman in an interview in Christchurch.
He is Mr S. lino, assistant manager of the export department of the Isuzu Motor Company, Ltd., of Tokyo. Arriving in New Zealand by air from Melbourne last night, Mr lino is in the Dominion for eight days making what he calls “an investigation and survey of the automobile market in New Zealand with a view of possible exports.” Ninety-five per cent, of his company’s production are diesel vehicles, and it is the company's boast that it has the greatest productive capacity and the greatest number of products of any makers in this line of business in Japan. After two days in Christchurch Mr lino will visit Wellington (where he hopes to meet members of the Government) and from there he will travel to Auckland before leaving for Australia.
